Bali, also known as the “Island of the Gods”, is a popular tourist destination in Indonesia. The island is famous for its stunning beaches, rich culture, and vibrant nightlife. While these are all great reasons to visit Bali, one of the most overlooked natural wonders on the island is its waterfalls.

In this article, we will explore the beauty and serenity of Bali’s waterfalls, as well as provide information on the best accommodation options near these natural wonders.

Discovering the Hidden Gems

Bali is home to numerous waterfalls that are scattered throughout the island. These hidden gems are often tucked away in lush jungles, providing a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The most famous waterfalls in Bali include Gitgit, Tegenungan, and Sekumpul. However, there are countless others waiting to be discovered.

Swimming in jungle pools or swimming at Bali beaches are some of the best things to do in Bali. The Sekumpul entry fee is AUD$15 while the GGC waterfall entry is free.

The Beauty of Bali Waterfalls

Bali’s waterfalls are a sight to behold. Surrounded by lush greenery and often accompanied by a refreshing pool at the base, these natural wonders offer breathtaking scenery that is perfect for nature lovers and photographers alike. The gentle sound of cascading water adds to the serene atmosphere, making it a popular spot for meditation and relaxation.

Adventure Awaits

While some waterfalls in Bali are easily accessible, others require a bit more effort to reach. This makes them ideal for adventure seekers and hikers looking to explore off-the-beaten-path destinations. Trekking through the jungle to reach a secluded waterfall is an experience like no other and allows visitors to truly appreciate the untouched beauty of Bali.

Accommodation Options

For those looking to fully immerse themselves in the natural wonder of Bali’s waterfalls, there are many accommodation options available near these attractions. From luxury resorts to cozy homestays, there is something for every budget and preference.

For a luxurious experience, consider staying at one of the many resorts located near popular waterfalls such as Tegenungan or Gitgit. These resorts offer stunning views of the waterfalls and often have their own private access for guests to enjoy.

If you prefer a more authentic Balinese experience, opt for a homestay near Sekumpul waterfall. These traditional homes offer a unique cultural experience and are usually run by local families who can provide insights into the surrounding area.

For budget travellers, there are also plenty of affordable guesthouses and hostels located near Bali’s waterfalls. These options not only provide comfortable accommodation but also allow visitors to meet fellow travellers and share their experiences.

Making the Most of Your Visit

To fully enjoy your visit to Bali’s waterfalls, it is important to be responsible and respectful of the environment. Always follow designated paths and obey any rules or guidelines set by the local authorities. Avoid littering and take all trash with you when leaving the area.

It is also recommended to visit waterfalls outside of peak hours, as they can get crowded with tourists during midday. Early morning or late afternoon visits not only provide a more peaceful experience but also offer better lighting for photography.

Free Entry Waterfall

At the time of writing in November 2023, the GGC waterfall entry was free. It’s not just one waterfall but 3 major waterfalls and some smaller heavy shower type waterfalls.
